RAUL ASTORGA

COACH

I grew up in a traditional Hispanic household where food was delicious, and breakfast was bread and milk. Food fueled my family and friendship connections. Had an issue in let's talk over Black Jack pizza.  I always grew up eating whatever I wanted with worries in the world. Eating whatever I wanted did not impact me until I was in middle school.

As a kid I always wanted to help impact the world to make it a better place.  I grew up playing lots of video games and watching shows. I wasn’t very active in my youth, but when it came time to playing football or basketball with my friends, I always felt to be the least athletic. My obsession with games became more involved spending hundreds and thousands of hours trying to beat the hardest bosses or be the best at a game.

When I entered my teens, I began to gain more weight.  I was in a place where I did not understand much of fitness and health. In high school I did a weightlifting class and cross country. I dropped out of the cross-country team quickly as poor grades kept me out of competitions. Most of my friends did some form of sport while I would shy away because I didn’t feel confident. I graduated high school out shape and overweight.

After graduation, I felt my lowest with my self-esteem as a reminder that I was not accomplishing much with myself and life. Zadok was in sports throughout his childhood and offered to teach me what he knew to get jacked! So, we started hitting the gym together for years doing a powerlifter style of split always competing with each other. We eventually got exposed to bodybuilding and at that point I started to educate myself more and more through coaching and courses about fitness. I became obsessed in my desire to become the best version of myself realizing that along the way I had encouraged others to make a change.

In my 20’s I worked in behavioral health for 8 years and I learned how to support others with achieving simple goals and tasks. I taught job skills to people with developmental disabilities and for fun helped friends and family with their fitness goals. I saw changes that improved people’s quality of life when they added working out or just became more mindful around eating. I became a personal trainer in 2020 so I can pursue my passion for fitness full time.  I realized that helping other hit their health and fitness goals to improve their quality of life is what I wanted to do. I shifted and applied my skills from 8 years of behavioral health and 10 years of fitness plus invested education to make the leap. I currently am a general manager at a private club as well as have personal training clients.

Through the 10 years of my working out foundational habits and skills were built that pushed me to new levels I never thought were possible. They not only helped get the results I wanted. They transferred building a strong foundation in my career, health and overall life.  They helped me uncover my true potential.

My commitment to you is to help you uncover your true potential and support you to be the best version of yourself. We built this beautiful community to connect you to likeminded people and show you the path to the life you’ve been wanting.

ZADOK LADEGARD

COACH

Fitness has always been a fundamental part of my life. My journey began in 7th grade when I participated in various sports throughout high school. Wrestling and Cross Country were my main sports, driven by my desire to lose weight as I was once overweight, as well as I always wanted to push my body and find my limits.

My passion for weightlifting ignited during my time in job school with the Marine Corps in Ft Lee, Virginia. Weightlifting provided me with a feeling unlike any other sport. I pursued it casually in my early 20s, particularly enjoying powerlifting. Raul and I started weightlifting around the same time, and spent a plethora of hours together in our local gym learning the ins and outs of fitness, and pushing each other further and further. After a couple years, I wanted to take things much more seriously, and transitioned to bodybuilding alongside Raul. This stemmed from a successful cut that taught me to truly embrace the suck. In April 2022, I hired my first coach, and competed in my first bodybuilding show and have only dived deeper into the sport since!

Teaching and helping others have always been important to me, leading me to pursue coaching. I earned my CPT in January 2020, but basic personal training wasn't enough for me. I wanted to dig deeper into ways to help people, leading me to become a full coach. On top of my CPT, I have also gotten certified in Hypertrophy, Sports Nutrition, Fitness Mentality, and I am currently working on adding the J3U Bodybuilding certification to the list! This journey eventually led to online coaching, allowing me to reach more people and follow my true dream of changing the world through fitness and physical health.

My dream stems from a desire to help people and benefit my community. While our modern world grows in amazing ways, making everyday life easier, we move less and less, and our bodies suffer. I aim to reintroduce physical activity into daily life, driving our bodies back to their true nature, highlighting the incredible benefits that movement, and fitness bring!

Iron Made Athletics stemmed from a shared passion between Raul and I, which has been cultivated through two separate lifetimes, and twenty years of friendship. Fitness is an all-encompassing piece of life, and a community that spans any culture, beliefs, and dreams. we want to use our platform to bring the world together and show that everyone is Iron Made.
